Design assignment:

Using the provided catalog of salvageable materials, design a replacement for the existing property.

Your design should fit the historical and cultural context. It should respond to the challenges imposed by the unique geographical and climatic setting. It should include strategies for dealing with future disaster; floods etc. It should incorporate as many features of sustainable and "green" architecture as possible. It should be efficient, compact and responsive to the changing needs of housing in the 21st century.

Your design should maintain the local vernacular and minimize the amount of additional materials necessary. As much as possible the salvaged materials should be used creatively to offset all other construction costs.

Above all your design should be site specific responding to the setting and the unique materials available from that property.
Think of the existing property as the source of all your material resources.

The catalog has been created from an inventory of the the pilot property.
